What is the best day of the week to submit new or updated content for indexing?
Day 1011 of indexation research
Today’s Crawl or No Crawl Report is still under construction! So I thought I’d offer you a little cookie until its ready for company.
In the meantime, if you haven’t already read it, yesterday’s report has some new information “what’s around the corner” info on chrome builds and such. Evidence supports interesting timing around SERP volatility.
June 17, 2024 - The Alexandria Report
Welcome to Crawl or No Crawl. Poring over server logs the past few days and spending time 'mulling over' what could be driving what I’m seeing yielded a new and broader understanding. There seems to be a new approach when it comes to the updating of the chrome builds.
What is the best day of the week to submit new or updated content for indexing?
Seems like if there were a better day than another to submit or resubmit content to Google we’d all like to know it.
There might be. I think I can have something for you tomorrow, no later than Wednesday.
The only thing, well only TWO things standing in the way is this head cold I brought back from Canada that is kicking my a$$ and jetlag tag teamed it and a set of server logs from someone whose site was exactly as described in my canonical report - growth of impressions pre-summer, killed by the Sept 2023 HCU and further by March Core.
They took off the TOC plugin they were using and for the first time in almost a year their traffic is returning. (They had previously tried everything, backlinks, better backlinks, aggressive technical tweaks, change of site architecture, new server, disavows - - they really threw the kitchen sink at it.)
Of course, there are some people who say the recovery is random and had nothing to do with the removal of the TOC and the many jump links.
In curiosity, because when its education you’re after nothing is sacred, I asked for and received server logs. I would like to know what is driving the return of traffic since the only thing done to the site in the last 4 - 6 months was removing the TOC in response to the information in the PSA canonical writeup.
If you are interested in what I find (the site information will be anonymized) to confirm if the URLs that started to come back are indeed URLs that previously had TOC links but were removed.
When I’m complete on the data analysis, I plan to post it on the Gumroad report. You can find it here - http://carolyn.digital/ if you are inclined to grab a copy that will make sure you are the first to be notified.
