Welcome to today’s Crawl or No Crawl Report.

Was having a conversation today with a colleague about an SEO test run prior to when Google’s indexation system shifted into Mobile First Indexing late October 2023.

Which got me to sharing what I see repeatedly in server logs within the period afterwards when we no longer had designated desktop crawler sites or mobile crawler sites.

Desktop Googlebot & New Content

When it comes to new content, these days the legacy Desktop Googlebot is MIA.

Desktop Googlebot & Revised Existing Indexed Content

It is comparatively a larger presence in cases where existing indexed content being modified and recrawled… but that’s not saying a whole lot.

In June for sites where existing content is being tested, only 4 legacy desktop googlebots were counted.

Now for today’s question of iimoiiot? (is it me or is indexing off today)
