Welcome to the Crawl or No Craw report for today. May have an possible explanation for those phantom crawl in server logs and not recorded in GSC.

For those that need to know this, ANY indexer built on and using the Google Indexing API is not able to get content through the API. Unless they are testing within SERPs, there is no way they would know this unless their customers tell them.

Fortunately for you, there is an effective indexer that provides your content with the opportunity for indexing that doesn’t rely on the API - IndexZilla. (So within terms of service, it is safe to use for money sites.)
