Welcome to today’s Crawl or No Crawl Report.
In my work, I gauge the immediate status of the indexation system by observing its sub-systems that can be seen:
crawling - via server logs
indexing - via GSC
serving - via search results using test keywords
Looking how content gets INTO the results.
But How Do You Get Content to Stay Indexed?
There’s been a lot of scuttlebutt the last couple of days about indexed pages being reduced back to Crawled, Not Indexed around May 28th.
That makes sense in the timing of it because that’s the date the indexed page report was updated.
If anyone here has some pages that fall into that category - if you would like me to look at them - feel free to message me and provide examples. Ideally, if you have 10 pages or more.
While you’re waiting - there’s a terrific study from Alexis Rylko - https://alekseo.com/google-and-the-130-day-rule/. And every single site I have SC access to I’ve run this and it lines up every.single.time!
It contains the step by step how to set up your Screaming Frog with your Search Console API for your own site(s).
Highly recommend!
